Many thanks to Myriam for the heads-up. First of all, may I congratulate Myriam and fellow volunteers at the first Rails Girls Galway - it was a very successful event with +60 enthusiastic and energetic female participants. One could hardly believe that there was a gender issue in free/open source software communities when seeing so many active women.
Just want to clarify that I did not co-found Debian women; I have been an observer of this group since its conception. This is a significant group - there are many interesting anecdotes on which one can draw when talking about social dynamics and gender issues in free/open source software communities. But, really, the honour and hard work of setting this group up and of keeping it going belong to Debian contributors and developers. The slides I presented can be found at https://speakerdeck.com/hiyashi/open-source-software As always, comments are welcome. Cheers.
