Hi all, at the meeting tonight I think we took some interesting decision; there was another new faces tonight, and it was a great feeling.
So, here the main topics. 1. Wiki pages about courses. As pointed out in a mail [1] by Eric some of the past years lessons are a little outdated now. So, Eric asked if he can update it or if it is intended to be left as an historical document, cause most of these lessons are logs of IRC courses. The specific tutorial is this [2]: we all agreed that Eric could update it, if he want do it. And - obviuosly - that all pages of courses section can be updated. So, if you want to do it, feel free to do! :) 2. Statistics First of all Karolina pointed out that the reason of the little number of DD/DM in comparison with number of first upload could be that there are some women afraid or confused about becoming DD/DM or who haven't much programming experience. Another problem is the lack of statistics on males contributors to make some comparative analysis. About that I and Anne decided to try (with some hints from Marga) to collect and parse data on men DD/DM. If someone else wants to join the Statistics Task Force is welcome! 3. Website We all thinks that is necessary a sort of revitalization both in content and in graphics of the website. For the *graphics* part two are the proposals: - I've noted that there is a general proposal for redesign the whole site (debian.org) that includes also the design for subsites: this proposal is the Kalle's design [3] and some persons on Debian are already working on that to migrate the site. So we can use this graphics - Karolina propose to send a request for a new design here on the ML, to collect suggestions About the *contents* the proposals are various: guest blog post; links to the blog of debian women; role call page (people can provide their name and a link to their blog or website, like an abbreviated profiles page); a dedicated team who works on publish articles, reviews, "bits from debian women" etc, ; feed rss on some kind of text content; profile of new women; etc. I think that the most representative sentence on this topic is from Marga: "Generally anything that helps show that the project is still alive" On the *technical* side, helix linked us this mail [4] in which is explained how it runs the site. The sources are on svn on alioth, but I think that there are some problems now, so I think it's better that helix herself explain this when all will be allright again.:D 4. Mentoring Program Last, but not least, Helen and Lesley are in charge for mentoring program. So, good luck! :D I hope I don't forget nothing, Thank you and Good night (2.24 a.m here) Francesca [1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-women/2010/08/msg00028.html [2] http://wiki.debian.org/DebianWomen/PythonTutorial [3] http://wiki.debian.org/KallesDesign [4] http://lists.debian.org/debian-women/2007/07/msg00001.html -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-women-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
