I don't use grub either (long live lilo!), and I am not a girl, and I didn't get about half of the jokes anyway. But I still thought it was entertaining :) FWIW, incase anyone is wondering, "girls" can be used in colloquial English to refer to a group of adult women, though not everyone likes being called so. It certainly doesn't exclude anyone of any particular age. In some contexts I would cheefully use it of groups of women who were my grandma's age (and she's 80!). Helen.
