* Package name : conspire Version : 0.11.0 Upstream Author : William Pitcock <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, Kiyoshi Aman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://nenolod.net/conspire * License : GPL Description : Conspire is an advanced, lightweight IRC client for UNIX. It includes a GTK interface, and a "bot" interface which has no UI. Interface segregation is accomplished through libconspire, which contains the common code. Conspire started as a fork of XChat 2.9 CVS. Besides allowing for many different UIs to be implemented on top of the conspire engine, Conspire includes other notable features such as being extended only through DBus. Since Conspire is extended only through DBus, it is less susceptible to various attacks from hostile users. Conspire features limited compatibility with XChat plugins via the conspire-xchatwrap program. Additionally, conspire can use XChat scripts via the conspire-python program. Both of these programs run in a seperate memory address space than conspire, and as such hostile plugins and scripts cannot gain access to any data which is not presented through the proper XChat APIs. The fact that the extensions run in a seperate address space also means that poorly written extensions will not crash the IRC client. Additionally, third-party programs can extend Conspire if they detect that it is running. This can allow for example: media players which provide their own IRC integration options, tighter integration with web browsers like Epiphany, etcetera. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFHjmrlFNfTUrxudD0RAoLYAKC6BWgDfcmIMBMi6kOImB2wMs+K3gCgyNc9 aD52eOjxNUHICaaUPw7iJeQ= =WlpU -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
