Hmm, the same problems affect sponsoring as affect maintaining it
myself. See http://people.debian.org/~codehelp/#lang

It's an unusual situation - normally the previous DD is the ideal
person to sponsor the new maintainer adopting the package. The problem
here is that the new upstream version of glipper is a completely new
application in nearly all relevant aspects. If there is anything I can
do with regard to migrating from the old glipper package to the new, I
will help out, of course. I can't really sponsor the new version
because it merely shares the same name as the package I maintained,
almost nothing of that codebase remains. :-(

I would recommend that you work with http://mentors.debian.net where
you will find sponsors who are able to work with python. Also, please
treat the new glipper package as if it was NEW and ask your sponsor to
do the same.
