You're welcome to start committing fixes on the problems I mentionned in my short comments on the CDBS version and/or the pure debhelper one. Checkout with: svn co svn+ssh://svn.debian.org/svn/collab-maint/ext-maint/vala/trunk Put the tarball in ../tarballs and build with svn-buildpackage. dch + debcommit to add changelog + commit with this changelog.
