I read the mails in the thread and I agree with Marcus (and I think Michael would agree), this is the best solution: one source package and generate the binary packages you need for Mavane2. If someone want to add a new sub-project, you just have to hack the debian build system and the binary package will appear, no new source package to upload etc...
