Hi, Thanks for the ITPs, I find it nice that you're willing to prepare these. Curiously, we thought about the same thing last week on #gnome-debian since we were listing the icon themes that were "worth it".
FYi, we reviewed the icon set, and it's very complete, and needs minimal patching: only distributor logo has the ubuntu logo. If you like, you can host this package in pkg-gnome's SVN, and/or be mentored / sponsored by pkg-gnome folks. Let me know if you're interested.
