The battlefield consists of forests, grain, water, grass, carcass (of course) and lots of other things. The game server manages the game and the rules. You start a server and connect some clients. The clients communicate with the server using a very primitive protocol. They can order cyborgs to harvest grain, attack enemies or cut forest. The game is not intended to be played by humans! There is too much to control. Only for die-hards: Just telnet to the server and you can enter commands by hand. Instead the idea is that you write artificial intelligence clients to beat the other artificial intelligences. You can choose a language (and operating system) of your choice to do that task. It is enough to write a program that communicates on standard input and standard output channels. Then you can use programs like "socket" to connect your clients to the server. It is NOT needed to write TCP/IP code, although i did so :) The battle shall not be boring, and so there is the so called spyboss client that displays the action graphically on screen. You could also write a 3D client so that the battle looks even fancier :) - -- System Information Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux bohr 2.4.7 #3 SMP Fri Jul 27 17:05:49 EDT 2001 i686 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE7mw8R5lsmI6uA7bQRAnxYAJ48MIX3TJbhX9Q7/xx8PGLxxfoZrwCeOar2 h4Hv782vvRXr7rt/dvp3ZNM= =qHcn -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------------------------------- Received: (at 111746-done) by bugs.debian.org; 31 Aug 2004 18:38:56 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Aug 31 11:38:56 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from (vserver151.vserver151.serverflex.de) [193.22.164.111] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1C2DWy-00052G-00; Tue, 31 Aug 2004 11:38:56 -0700 Received: from [217.88.154.55] (helo=legolas) by vserver151.vserver151.serverflex.de with asmtp (TLS-1.0:RSA_ARCFOUR_SHA:16) (Exim 4.34) id 1C2DWw-0001li-5x; Tue, 31 Aug 2004 20:38:54 +0200 Received: from jmm by legolas with local (Exim 4.34) id 1C2DX4-0000YV-KN; Tue, 31 Aug 2004 20:39:02 +0200 Date: Tue, 31 Aug 2004 20:39:02 +0200 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.6+20040818i From: Moritz Muehlenhoff <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> X-SA-Exim-Connect-IP: 217.88.154.55 X-SA-Exim-Mail-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Closing outdated RFPs Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii X-SA-Exim-Version: 4.0 (built Sat, 24 Apr 2004 12:31:30 +0200) X-SA-Exim-Scanned: Yes (on vserver151.vserver151.serverflex.de) Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-2.5 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,SUSPICIOUS_RECIPS autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 X-Spam-Level: X-CrossAssassin-Score: 2 This RFP has been closed as it is very old and the requested program isn't even under active maintenance since at least two years.
