Jonas Smedegaard is not credited in the changelog at all, and the wnpp package lists it as orphaned. (Bug #107808) The developer information page for the diskless package also lists it as orphaned (http://packages.qa.debian.org/d/diskless.html) He is listed as the maintainer for lessdisks, which is a completely different package than diskless. Maybe this is what you're thinking of?
