As of about 2.4.21, there's enough in the mainstream Linux kernel to support most Bluetooth operations. Beyond that, the patches tend to incorporate fixes that BlueZ want to get into Linux but haven't yet.
So, these patches are pretty much essential for kernels 2.4.18-2.4.20, and very helpful for 2.4.21 to 2.4.26. In the 2.6 series, the BlueZ guys have a lot more luck at merging right into the next kernel revision, so packaging these patches doesn't seem worth it there. -- Edd
