hey, We've done some work packaging lkcd, and have added patches to work on ia64. This package provides an initscript to do the dump recovery bits.
I've submitted a patch to kernel-package that will make it include Kerntypes if its available, and this has already been included. I've also patched lkcdutils so that it doesn't require the symlinks in /boot, which make-kpkg has deprecated.
