It parses magic rules (offset, test, message) and reports the type of data read from any io.ReaderAt; the packaged snapshot's built-in rules focus on Linux kernel images. . A tiny CLI wrapper behaving like file(1) is included, which upstream describes as a testing aid rather than a replacement for file(1). syft uses it to identify kernel images inside container images. . This package is a build dependency of syft (ITP https://bugs.debian.org/1124819). I intend to maintain this package within the Debian Go Packaging Team.
