Upstream created it specifically so that LZO1X streams could be read under a permissive licence, the reference implementation being GPL-2. . This package is a build dependency of github.com/diskfs/go-diskfs, which uses it to read compressed squashfs filesystems, and so in turn of syft (ITP https://bugs.debian.org/1124819). I intend to maintain this package within the Debian Go Packaging Team.
