Hi, Sven, Fabio, I'd love to help you with the parted package.
IANADD, or even in any kind of process so far beyond this email, but I looked down the wnpp list, saw parted, and thought: that's for me. I have a fair bit of experience recovering filesystems with a sector editor where the damage is too great for the standard fsck tools to understand, including a number of commercial jobs, and including exotica like SCO and Novell filesystems as well as the more everyday dos/windows and linux stuff. I can even provide references! In the past I've done stuff that parted now does with shell and dd (only very occassionally shooting myself in the foot! :) You could say filesystems have always been an interest. I program in C/sh/perl amongst others, and am comfortable with a variety of build enviroments although I am new to dpkg/debian packaging (familiar with rpm packaging). I've been a debian user for some years (since about the release of redhat 7). I regard parted as a fairly critical piece of infrastructure for free software as a whole, and it is certainly important that those doing the hard work of maintaining it for debian get all the support they need. Just tell me what you need me to do. Regards, Paddy -- Perl 6 will give you the big knob. -- Larry Wall
