Control: retitle 1093584 Should cereal be removed from unstable?
Control: severity 1093584 serious
Thanks

Hi,

I realised that a cereal was orphaned in bug #1095684. Chris raised the
perfectly valid question "Or, should the package be removed from
Debian?" in this bug report and Jameson agreed in his response.

Since it seems that there is not sufficient capacity to maintain this
package and my attempt to gather some interest by migrating the package
to our collaboration platform Salsa does not seem to be successfully I'd
like to turn the according bug rather into some pre-removal warning.
The severity is intentionally set to serious to create the necessary
attention. I'm summarising the issues of the package:

  * Orphaned by maintainer (#1095684)
  * Not maintained upstream
  * Several open bugs (many of these not answered)
  * Really low popcon (inst=11, vote=0)
  * Drains time from NMUers (basically simple QA work)
  * It a leaf package.

This bug serves as a pre-removal warning. After one month, the bug will be
reassigned to ftp.debian.org to actually request removal of the package.

In case the package should be kept in unstable, please evaluate the
bugs filed against this package. You might like to profit from the
upgrade of the package metadata in Salsa[1].

In case the package should be removed from unstable, you may reassign this
bug report:

    Control: severity -1 normal
    Control: retitle -1 RM: cereal -- RoM; rc-buggy
    Control: reassign -1 ftp.debian.org
    Control: affects -1 + src:cereal

Alternatively, you may wait a month and have it reassigned.

In case you disagree with the above, please downgrade this bug below RC
severity. Doing so will also prevent automatic reassignment.

Kind regards
    Andreas.
