I'm not sure an RFP is really appropriate, since there's an installer package in contrib already, but ... as you wish. The history of openrocket packaging in Debian is long and ... horrible. Years ago, we had a package in main, that Tom Marble helped me keep working as more Java class library dependencies crept in. Then that got too hard, so I switched to an installer package in contrib. That got horrible over time too both because the upstream jar site kept changing access path(s), and because there was/is a hard dependency on OpenJDK 8. When the upstream development community started putting out beta releases for the first possible stable release since March 2015, I started working on packaging it. There are a few remaining embedded class libraries that need to be unwound, including a JOGL thing for which nobody seems to know where to find complete corresponding upstream source. My work to date can be found at: https://salsa.debian.org/debian/openrocket And packages that aren't quite policy compliant can be found on one of my servers at https://gag.com/apt/ Upstream agrees that the JOGL embedded class library for which they can't point to source is a bad thing, and there's more or less a commitment to work on that eventually... but, in typical Java development style, since the current code "works", upstream's sense of urgency on this is lower than mine. Then .. in the latest twist, Sampo who was the original upstream author re-appeared on the mailing lists in the last few days indicating that he's quietly been working on a complete rewrite of openrocket in Typescript, for which he has quite a bit of code working and wanted to get some community feedback before deciding what to do with this code. It's pretty clear that there's a split between those who would just love to walk away from the Java code base, and those who feel too heavily invested to walk away and, like me, worry about second system syndrome effects here. Anyway. I'd love to have help completing the rest of the work to make my current/new openrocket package policy compliant and thus ready for upload to main... hint, hint! Bdale
