Upstream version is some stable releases apart and the debian package is stuck on an old one. Also the maintainer doesn't reply on email requests. (Current upstream version is 0.9.9 released Apr 6th 2003) The package description is: Free DNS server for UNIX implemented from scratch and designed to utilize the MySQL database for data storage. . Its primary objectives are stability, security, interoperability, and speed, though not necessarily in that order. . MyDNS does not include recursive name service, nor a resolver library. . It is primarily designed for organizations with many zones and/or resource records who desire the ability to perform real-time dynamic updates on their DNS data via MySQL. -- System Information Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux draenor 2.4.20-586tsc #1 Mon Jan 13 21:37:44 EST 2003 i686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C --------------------------------------- Received: (at 188693-done) by bugs.debian.org; 13 Apr 2003 20:34:30 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Apr 13 15:34:30 2003 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from zinc.btinternet.com (zinc) [194.73.73.148] by master.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.12 1 (Debian)) id 194oBI-0003Dg-00; Sun, 13 Apr 2003 15:34:29 -0500 Received: from host217-39-16-142.in-addr.btopenworld.com ([217.39.16.142] helo=riva.lab.dotat.at) by zinc with esmtp (Exim 3.22 #23) id 194oBG-0005zu-00; Sun, 13 Apr 2003 21:34:27 +0100 Received: from cjwatson by riva.lab.dotat.at with local (Exim 3.35 #1 (Debian)) id 194oBD-0007MM-00; Sun, 13 Apr 2003 21:34:23 +0100 Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2003 21:34:23 +0100 From: Colin Watson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Helios de Creisquer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: Steve Langasek <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: Bug#188693: O: mydns -- DNS server using MySQL for data storage. Accordingly, I think this bug should be closed (reopen if you want to keep it that way, of course - I'm just housekeeping). Philipp, filing O: bugs to orphan other people's packages is not very polite, and you need to be sure of your reasons; a few upstream releases isn't usually enough unless serious problems have been fixed, in which case why aren't there any bugs filed about it? If there's any doubt, talk to [EMAIL PROTECTED] first. Cheers, -- Colin Watson [EMAIL PROTECTED]
