Thanks for getting rebulk into Debian! Should I push my changes to the flexget repo or have you already done more work offline for that too?

Yes, hopefully they sort it out upstream since someone revived the
effort a couple of weeks ago. You're right about backporting, I hadn't
really thought about that but it makes sense as an option if the next
upstream versions change other dependencies.
