Dear FTP team, I see that LORENE has been in the NEW queue for two months now and I am wondering what I can do to help you reach a decision.
LORENE is needed to activate one of the primary feature of Gyoto (namely, the possibility of computing stellar orbits and performing relativistic ray-tracing in exotic, numerical metrics). I have good contacts with upstream. They think of LORENE as a static library, and they provide "codes" that use the library. The packages that I have prepared do build shared libraries in addition to the static library, I will handle the soname as long as upstream does not do it. I put the "codes" in source form in lorene-codes-src because upstream does not think it is meaningful to offer them in precompiled form, but one of the codes is used in the Gyoto test suite. In addition those "codes" are a good starting point for any researcher using LORENE. Experimental packages of LORENE and Lorene-enabled Gyoto can be found here and there: https://people.debian.org/~thibaut/ https://launchpad.net/~paumard/+archive/ubuntu/gyoto/ I hope this helps. Kind regards, Thibaut.
