I've create a collab-maint git repo and imported to old Mercurial version history into it and added my improvements: https://anonscm.debian.org/git/collab-maint/slay.git I'll test it a little bit more and will then probably upload it. For the version number scheme, I try to adhere to Semantic Versioning (http://semver.org/).
