I now really a little of the ongoing mc development, but anyway I'm wondering why you are going to create a new mc package. Ok, an mc-snapshot package could be useful if upstream doesn't release very often, but have you thought about helping the mc maintainer in packaging new versions of the mc package? I mean, it seems silly to me having an mc-snapshot package and an 'official' mc package that is ancient wrt current mc release.
