Hi Bastian,
I pushed a preview of the package on Github if you want to get a look:
https://github.com/ebourg/hadoop-debian
So far it builds all the libraries, I still have to assemble the main
package with the command line tools and replace the minified JavaScript
files in the upstream tarball.
Do you have links to discussions about the Hadoop packaging? I'd be
interested in seeing why people thought it wasn't possible. I may have
overlooked something, but I think everything is properly built from
source at this point. Please let me know if you see anything offending.
