As promised, there are preliminary packages available for peep and peep-sounds at www.dat.etsit.upm.es/~jfs/debian/applications/peep
Tv, David, Joey, could you please test these packages? They seem to work
mostly fine, although there are some issues pending (such as licensing,
for example, for peep sounds :(
I have not tested them thoroughly (to see if they play sounds, for
example)... but the daemons start/stop mostly ok..
