The library is part of Linphone. . The library was previously shipped and versioned together with the Linphone executable. That now causes circular dependencies. The latest version of Linphone depends on bzrtp, which is released separately, for additional encrypted communications, but bzrtp depends on ortp and mediastreamer2. . To avoid the circular dependency, the two libraries ortp and mediastreamer2 are being separated. They are on different release cycles anyway. Unfortunately, their versioning requires a new epoch.
