It is a drop in replacement for fs. The module implements common filesystem operations such as copy(), move(), mkdirs(), remove(), and specific read/write operations like readFile() & outputFile() and readJson() & outputJson(). node-fs-extra is required for OpenLayers 3 (#774561).
