Whomever takes this package: Please contact me, and the sysvinit and file-rc maintainers so that we can make sure it integrates seamlessly with the Debian init script subsystem.
There is a paper available about the issue, at http://people.debian.org/~hmh/ So please read it as well. runit would be a great addition to Debian.
