* Package name : debootstick Version : 0.9c * URL : http://drakkar-lig.github.io/debootstick/ * License : BSD Programming Lang: Shell script Description : Turn a chroot environment into a bootable image debootstick is used to generate a bootable image from a Debian or Ubuntu chroot environment (such as one generated with debootstrap, docker export, etc.). This image should then be copied to a USB stick or disk and used to boot any amd64 machine (BIOS- or UEFI-based). The embedded system is ready to be started live (no installation procedure needed), and since it is a very standard system, it is fully upgradeable (kernel and bootloader included). Existing solutions, such as the live-build framework, tend to manage the whole image creation process, including the creation and customization of a chroot environment; whereas debootstick is designed as a building block that should be combined with other ones (typically debootstrap and chroot, but other ones such as docker have proven to be very convenient). This approach allows to build specialized live systems in a trivial way. The tool is currently maintained by myself and people of the WalT project (http://walt.forge.imag.fr/). Anyone interested, please contact me. I am also looking for sponsors. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
