I have started packaging the enormous list of dependencies for etherpad-lite. 
You cannot use npm in Debian, so every npm package must be built as .deb 
package.

All node-* and *.js found on my QA page [1] are related to the packaging of 
etherpad-lite. And there are many a more

So what you can do is: join pkg-javascript-devel on lists.alioth.debian.org and 
peer into #debian-js IRC, so that we can coordinate the dependency packaging.
