I have begun using Tilemill recently, but I am currently using the Ubuntu packages in a VM! I managed to build the current package from git, with the above patch, and managed to install it, once I had build modestmaps from git. But the package does not actually contain Tilemill...
I would very much like to help out, as I want to see this in Debian, what are the remaining issues?
