* Package name : libilbc Version : 1.1.1 Upstream Author : Jeroen Dekkers <jer...@dekkers.ch>, Originally: the WebRTC project: http://webrtc.org * URL : https://github.com/dekkers/libilbc * License : BSD Programming Lang: C Description : Internet Low Bitrate Codec (iLBC) library Free speech codec suitable for robust voice communication over IP. The codec is designed for narrow band speech and results in a payload bit rate of 13.33 kbit/s with an encoding frame length of 30 ms and 15.20 kbps with an encoding length of 20 ms. The iLBC codec enables graceful speech quality degradation in the case of lost frames, which occurs in connection with lost or delayed IP packets. iLBC is specified by RFC 3951. The iLBC codec from RFC 3951 is "almost free" (source code available, not DFSG-compatible). It has thus been incorperated in a number of programs. It has not been very popular recently, but it is still used in various places (Asterisk, Opal, Yate). Lately GIPS, who originally wrote the codec, was purchaced by Google. Later on Google provided an iLBC codec (and some others) as part of the newly released WebRTC code. That code has no licensing issues, but it provides a different API. This project provides an API mostly compatible with the original RFC 3951 codec. The library will be packaged by the pkg-voip team. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
