Hello Aron, All the issues you mentioned are now fixed in the updated package.
#608164 (abiword.desktop does not validate) - it was the result of a sloppy patch I inherited with the package. I corrected the patch causing the problem. #655308 (FTBFS: multiple problems) is fixed as well. I integrated the patch for GNU Hurd: #648153 (abiword: FTBFS on hurd-i386) Apparently it doesn't break build on x86, all good. I've managed to package latest upstream release by dropping dependency on libgoffice - I don't understand the implications of this but new abiword looks and feels exactly as before so I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. (Abiword 2.9.2 require unreleased version of libgoffice if configured using '--with-goffice'.) Abiword-docs package (see #556958) is ready and waiting for sponsor as well. Would you be able to sponsor it together with abiword? I'm almost finished preparng the package so I will post an update regarding source package availability soon.
