There have been two new upstream releases since then. It seems the 
author has found more time for sam2p again. I had nothing to do with 
it.

If you are still interested, I think it would be great if you would 
co-maintain the package. You could do the normal maintenance and I 
could help you with coding (if upstream does not handle it).
