OK, here's an update: I've not lost interest in the package. One version, mostly working, can be found in experimental.
The problem is that the software itself (more precisely the documentation) doesn't build with more recent versions of python-sphinx (for instance >= 1.0.1-1) or python-mako (>= 0.3.6-1). The upstream has been alerted of the problem and he said he'll work on it: as soon as he does, I will release and updated package and try again to get it into Debian.
