>From the web page: " The Linux Kernel Crash Dump (LKCD) project is designed to meet the needs of customers and system administrators wanting a reliable method of detecting, saving and examining system crashs. [...] LKCD is an attempt to move Linux towards greater supportability. LKCD contains kernel and user level code designed to: * Save the kernel memory image when the system dies due to a software failure; * Recover the kernel memory image when the system is rebooted; * Analyze the memory image to determine what happened when the failure occurred. " LKCD consists of both kernel patches and user mode utilities. I have not used it myself, but I *have* had the need for it (I am unable to find out why my laptop keeps crashing :-(). The developers seem to be mostly people from IBM and SGI. -- System Information Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux foo 2.2.19 #3 fre sep 7 22:47:38 CEST 2001 i686 Locale: LANG=sv_SE.ISO8859-1, LC_CTYPE=sv_SE
