I wouldn't call what tag2upload does a "shortcut". Current workflows (i.e. without tag2upload) do not contain any steps that t2u would skip.
t2u simply does these steps for me – in a controlled and sandboxed environment.
When I set up a CI workflow for my package on Salsa, instead of staring at the progress of "make test": would you call that a shortcut too?
Heck, we now more-or-less insist on the "don't build a binary package before uploading" shortcut … I remember the same kind of argument umpteen years ago, when the end of the world was near (I exaggerate, if only somewhat, this is a DD discussion after all :-P ) because we no longer required build-testing our sources before uploading them.
