in a class or a conference the idiocy that provoked it would not have happened - or, more precisely, would not have continued for month after month. in a class or conference, the kind of spitefully moronic pedantry that occurs on debian lists every single day would not be tolerated. it would be laughed out of the place within minutes of the first cretin trying it. alas, that doesn't happen on mailing lists. instead, it goes on for weeks or months until it pisses somebody off enough to finally say something about it - unfortunately triggering another round of pedantic frothing-at-the-mouth by wowser-imitations scoring cheap points whining about the swearing. craig ps: i may swear from time to time (whenever i feel it is appropriate AS IS MY RIGHT), but at least it is grammatically-fucking-correct swearing.
