I'm doing a master thesis in chemistry at the university, I'm not employed anywhere right now. I can't speak for any of the others, but I seriously doubt that 'we' are controlled by some other organisation or company. That said, I would welcome if some of the commercial 'based-on-Debian' companies like Xandros or Lindows would step in here and provide support in whatever way.
