Indeed. I remember Kysh, too. FWIW, I was not allowed on the #debian-devel channel until I was a developer either. I think it depended whom one spoke to about it. Note that I didn't know enough about IRC to know that I could simply '/join #debian-devel' anyhow ;-) I assumed, at the time, it was protected somehow. This would have been 1997 or 8.
