Just a random sparkle of the neurons, but have you somehow got your FSB clocked really slow in the BIOS? What sort of figures does memtest86 report for memory access speed?
Good call. I will check the BIOS settings later on tonight. I was sure it was all set correctly, but I could have messed something up accidentally.
