Hi everyone,

I have a problem with X. My desktop is a Dell GX260
with a graphics card Intel i82845G.

Apparently Xfree has just ricently added support for
such card, in xfree version 4.3.X. Accordingly, I am
using unstable woody
since the stable trunk reaches just to 4.1. Apart
from using the most updated xserver available, it is
required to compile and install some kernel modules
an x drivers provided by Intel itself (at least that
is what they say) plus run the kernel version 2.4.10
or higher (currently 2.4.18 in my box). Ive done that
too.

Unfortunatelly, after swiching to unstable and
installing the Intel drivers, X does not work. On
the
console appears the following:

===========================

(II) Loading
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/fonts/libbitmap.a
(II) Module bitmap: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
        compiled for 4.3.0.1, module version = 1.0.0
