My suggestion is to wait, because UT2004 under GNU/Linux has some serrious bugs. Especially if you look at this bug; https://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1413
I know you really do not want to hear that, but it is really unplayable at the moment. My game crashes all the time and is unplayable, due to this bug. Everyone one the cc list wants the bug fixed and has offered to help. If you really want to install it, I just started up two xterms, and mounted the cd in one, the other I ran the path from my home directory. Like this, home: sh /cdrom/ut2004/Linux_whatever. This seemed to work fine for me, but as mentioned before it would probably be fine to copy the script to the harddrive. If you do get it installed, make sure you look at your .ut2004.log and if necessary post it to the proper bug. It might not hurt, to email Epic, Atari about all your troubles.
