apt-get install capplets capplets-data then go to the desktop properties menu -> screen resolution
But as I found xrandr does not allow change the resolution to higher than highest typed into /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 in SubSection "Display"; Modes.
Is there possibility to set virtual screen 1600x1280, but max resolution 1024x768 with possibility to use randr to change to 800x600 (to watch film on TV)?
