Can anyone shed some light here? I compiled alsa in the kernel (y, not as m), with emu10k1 (I have a sound blaster). Now I get the following:
Couldn't open mixer device /dev/sound/mixer (from the gnome applett) and from the volume control: Unable to open audio device '/dev/mixer'. Please check that you have permissions to open '/dev/mixer' and that you have sound support in your kernel.
