For what it's worth, this fixed it. laptop:/etc/X11# apt-get remove xserver-xfree86 Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done The following packages will be REMOVED: s3savage-driver xserver-xfree86 laptop:/etc/X11# apt-get install xserver-xfree86 Perhaps the s3savage-driver package was conflicting. Now I only see one line like: (II) SAVAGE(0): vgaHWGetIOBase: hwp->IOBase is 0x03d0, hwp->PIOOffset is 0x0000 I wonder why I'm seeing all the lines like: (II) SAVAGE(0): Not using default mode "640x350" (vrefresh out of range) when my config file only defines one mode. Of course, there's lots of things to wonder about. Anyway, seems fixed. -- Bill Moseley [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
