It's easy to track woody because woody never gets updated. You only get
minor security updates. Then in a long time Sarge will come around and
you'll have to upgrade every single package on your computer (or close to
it). And that's when I've encountered breakage in the past.  I started
out with potato and upgraded it to Woody, there were a few hitches but
I managed to get things working ok. Nowadays I track unstable and have
no problems.

I feel that I'd rather have knoppix and not update it (if it were too
difficult), than have stable and update it (but have it not change
anyways). And as you've said updating knoppix isn't that difficult.
