hello, i have a wireless pcmcia card for my laptop (everything works just fine), i would like to use the interface wlan0 instead of eth1.
i have (of course) tried aliasing the module with wlan0 in /etc/modutils/aliases (and running update-modules) and i have poked around /etc/pcmcia but have not really found anything that works. i have read (somewhere) that the module dictates the naming prefix (eth or wlan). is this true? the wireless card is an SMC 2632W Version 2 and i am using the pcmf502r module from the atmelwlandriver.sourceforge.net site. also here is the modinfo output for that module: zero:/etc/pcmcia# modinfo pcmf502r filename: /lib/modules/2.4.21/pcmcia/pcmf502r.o description: <none> author: <none> license: "GPL" parm: pc_debug int parm: irq_mask int parm: irq_list int array (min = 1, max = 4) parm: mtu int parm: eth int parm: channel int parm: TxRate int parm: RadioOn int parm: RTSThreshold int parm: FragThreshold int parm: OpMode int parm: ESSID char parm: WepKeyToUse int parm: WepKey1 char parm: WepKey2 char parm: WepKey3 char parm: WepKey4 char parm: WepMode int parm: EncryptionLevel int parm: AuthenticationType int parm: PreambleType int parm: PwrMgmtMode int parm: BeaconPeriod int thanks for the help. -matt zagrabelny -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
