What I saw possibility-wise didn't involve much risk, given that I assumed a password-protected BIOS renders the machine unbootable for a person who doesn't know it (which is the whole idea, n'est-ce pas? but then to be frank encryption is a much better way to go IMHO, as long we're talking about "leaking" security secrets glibly solved by your run-of-the-mill stupid robot). Having said that, a BIOS password might be a suitable *layer* of protection in a corporate environment, for example.
