The F1 to F12 keys don't give a "KeyPress event" in xev. They only give these, and they are all identical and don't change when the Fn key is pressed, and not all F* keys emit even these (F7 and F9 does, but not F8): KeymapNotify event, serial 38, synthetic NO, window 0x0, keys: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
