Shooting dark since description of the issue is not detailed enough: press and hold [Shift] before selecting text using mouse in a terminal emulator. Some applications running in terminals handle mouse events themselves unless [Shift] is pressed.
I hope, it is not an issue with synchronizing X11 and Wayland selection and clipboard.
